SEGWAY PT TOUR AMID THE STREETS OF RIMINI!

Activity Information

Discovering Rimini, an important Roman city and touristic destination of world relevance.

Meeting point -departure and end of the ride- in Roma street 70 – Settebello Parking -GPS 44°03’37.8″N 12°34’36.4″E-, close to train station.

After having practised a little on segways, start of the itinerary towards Rimini beach, by a nice bicycle path, up to the lungomare, the seafront avenue. By riding alongside the bathing establishments, we will arrive to the Federico Fellini Square, on which is the Grand Hotel, symbol of holidays in Rimini in the early 20th century, and cross on the way some streets whose names are titles of his films.

Through the elegant Viale Principe Amedeo we will get closer to the historic centre and cross the port, once upon a time the end of Marecchia river, whose latin name, Ariminus, gave the name to the town.

On the other side is the small and pictoresque Borgo San Giuliano, made of narrow streets of medieval origins. From here we will admire and cross the Tiberius Bridge, a masterpiece of civil and military architecture, built during the 1st century A.D., and take Corso d’Augusto, the Roman decumanus of Rimini, the main axis East-West. The historic centre of Rimini still keeps the shape corresponding to the ancient Roman town.

From the Corso d’Augusto we will stop in Piazza Cavour, symbol and seat of the Town Hall, and in Piazza Malatesta, on which is set the Castel Sismondo, built

under the last Malatesta who dominated on Rimini, Sigismondo Pandolfo, during the 15th century. We will see the Porta Montanara, the gate that leads to the hillside and the valley of Marecchia river, and Piazza Tre Martiri, where Julius Cesar gave a famous speech to his soldiers after having crossed the Rubicon river. From there we can already notice the renowned Augustus Arch, end of Via Flaminia road and symbol of Rimini, and the Tempio Malatestiano, a masterpiece of local Renaissance, projected by Leon Battista Alberti, and showing works by Giotto and Piero della Francesca.

On the way back to the start of the tour, we will see the few remainings of the Roman amphitheatre.

At the end of the tour you will return to the meeting point.

It will always be possible to ask a stop to taste typical food (sweet, salty …).

SEGWAY PT TOUR AMID THE STREETS OF BOLOGNA!

Activity information

Roaming in Segway PT, with a guide, amid

the streets of Bologna lets you get a true feel for the vibrant atmosphere that reigns in this city, amid the arcades and cloisters that pop up here and there: points were people have the space and time to relax and enjoy superb cuisine and the good company of friends.

The meeting point is Piazza XX settembre, Porta Galliera -GPS 44°30’15.1″N 11°20’39.5″E-, smack in the middle of the historical center, the ideal starting point where all formalities are performed and where you can gain familiarity with your Segway PT vehicle.

A rather unusual but intriguing itinerary runs through via De’ Toschi, leading us through the alleys of the medieval market (via Clavature and via Sampieri), straight along one of the most suggestive and peaceful streets: via Santo Stefano home of the Basilica di Santo Stefano complex. This complex includes 7 Romanesque and Gothic churches, artistic representation of the period when Bologna was raised to a Commune.

The route then follows the street back toward the shade of the renowned leaning towers and then continues on to the heart of the ancient Jewish ghetto. Proceeding down a section of via Zamboni, it too fully covered with “arcades”, in a snap we return to Piazza della Mercanzia, once again encountering the things seen before —the two towers (Asinelli and Garisenda)— but this time viewing them from another angle and in a different light: set against the Loggia della Mercanzia.

From Piazza della Mercanzia, going back

through the medieval market area, at the end of via Clavature we reach Piazza Maggiore, the “large square” with its fountain depicting Neptune.

At the end of the tour you will return to the meeting point.

It will always be possible to ask a stop to taste typical food (sweet, salty …).
